Why Should You Give Your Money Away?

You worked hard for it; you should enjoy all the fruits of your labor, right?

Giving to charities or non-profit organizations can often appear like something only the very wealthy do. However, much of the time it’s the smaller donations that are the bread and butter of these non-profits. But why should you do it?

First of all, get rid of the “should” idea. I know for me, the minute I know I "should" do something I don't. So really, it’s a FREE CHOICE. To give or not to give, that's the question for you. No one's going to reach in your billfold and pull out your cash.

Support Important Causes

Allow me to explain the reason many (hopefully most) people donate. They believe they are making a difference in the world. Whether it’s helping to plant a tree, feed children, assist earthquake victims, or helping the many homeless families have better living conditions, Mi-Reto and AUDA have joined for this very purpose.  They are more interested in their cause than their benefit. Our cause, however, can't be furthered without the funding. So by your donation, however small, you're helping make the world of difference. By giving to our ministry, you will be able to support causes which you feel are important directly, without having to become physically involved. You might not be a doctor, but you can help to provide medicine or an operation by donating and changing forever someone’s life. You might not be able to take time off work to give food, clothing, a toy or Hug to show someone Jesus Loves Them and that Our Lord has ways to Provide, you can help support someone else who is able to do so. Whatever the cause, by donating to our ministry, you are directly helping to remedy the problems at hand.

Giving More (or less) Than Your Money

You don't have to be confined to monetary donations, either. Donations of your time and energy are much needed in many of our projects. Join in for a lake clean-up day, knit a chemo cap for kids who get cold because they've lose their hair, or have a nice chat with an older gentleman who's been waiting for someone to hear his old stories.

Never underestimate, however, what you’re $1 or $2 donations can add up to. In 1991 a four-year-old named Nora Gross wanted to help feed a homeless man, and asked her father how she could help. That led to the non-profit organization called Common Cents and its program the Penny Harvest. Through this, children have collected pennies and helped fund grants for community organizations. In the 2005/1006 school year alone, nearly half a million children from 770 schools in New York City took part in the Penny Harvest and collected nearly 185 tons of pennies equaling $655,508.54. That's over half a million dollars! From kids' pennies!

Feelings of Satisfaction

Another benefit of donating to our organization is that you just might enjoy knowing you’re a Doer. It’s similar with donating. Your contribution is making a difference. Maybe you sponsor a child to go to school, or buy a present for a child whose parent is unable, or helped fund a small baby have a better opportunity to life receiving food, medicine and even clothing. You, my friend, are part of the solution. Helping to support a child's education, career, Future, save lives or help others who are less fortunate. You don’t have to have a Mr. Scrooge “A Christmas Carol” revelation to realize that helping others gives you a good feeling, whether you do it by donating your time or by donating money. And the Gospel calls us to Love.

1Jn 3:16-18

By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

But whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?

My children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Tax Deduction

Well let's be honest. It’s usually tax deductible. One benefit of donating to a non-profit organization, and the one which you will most likely find to be tangible and “real,” is the tax deduction associated with donating. If you donate for no other reason, at least you will see a slight reduction in your own income taxes and possibly more money in your own pocket–because you were able to deduct the amount you donated to an Internal Revenue Service-approved charity. Need I say more?

As For Us

We well understands the need for sponsorship and fundraising, but also we have the passion to keep driving forward even when we don't have it.
